Why choose individual pet cremation?

You may never have considered the difference between a communal and individual cremation for your pet. In fact, you may not even be aware that there are different options when it comes to pet cremation.

Communal cremation, where multiple pets are cremated together, is an option that some pet owners may opt for without fully understanding the process. Communal cremation is invariably cheaper than individual cremation because multiple pets can be cremated at the same time. Some pet owners will be comfortable with the idea of their pet being cremated alongside others, but this isn’t what everyone wants for their pet. With communal cremation there is no way to have the ashes of your pet returned (nor any ashes at all). The thought of not having a tangible memento of pet can add to the sadness during an already challenging time.

On the other hand, individual cremation offers a more personalised and compassionate approach. This method involves the cremation of your pet only and ensures that its ashes can be returned. This can be a lifeline for some owners and having the ashes allows you the opportunity to choose from a range of scatter pouches, urns or caskets.

This can provide a memento of a life shared or if preferred, allows you to scatter the ashes in a place that holds special meaning which can create a lasting tribute to your pet. Whether it's a favourite park, the garden or a serene spot, scattering can offer closure and a sense of connection to your pet's memory.

At Rainbow Bridge Vets we always recommend individual cremation. In choosing individual pet cremation you secure the return of your beloved companion's ashes and a meaningful way to honour their memory.  Our recommended Crematorium is Culm Valley Pet Cremations in the Blackdown Hills and you can view their range of caskets, urns and mementos here.
